thedoctor
My '83 dl is hanging in as my daily driver and I love it at 275,000 miles. Runs cool, has good power, but has now started loosing coolant into the oil. I automatically think head gasket, but I am puzzled as to why the performance is still so good. Please get me started on how to diagnose. Thanks.
roadsubiedog
we used Blue Devil headgasket sealer and it has worked so far. ( keeping fingers crossed.
thedoctor
I read in another post that it could be the intake manifold that is leaking coolant. What is the best way to diagnose the problem?
naru
I read in another post that it could be the intake manifold that is leaking coolant. What is the best way to diagnose the problem? Use your compressor to put 100 psi into the spark plug holes w/the engine warm.Bubbles in the rad means headgasket. A pressure gauge hooked to the cooling system may show excessive pressure build up w/the engine running as well.
Dirk
When the engine is cool, start her up and remove radiator cap and run till warm. If coolant spits out then HGs are toast. Check out this vid.
