rumblee
Just pulled the water pump off after it blew up and it ate the raised area on the block that it mates to. Well... it didn't eat all of it but i'd say half of it. So....any fix for this or is this engine doomed?

idosubaru
definitely going to need to post pictures. i would think you can work something out...but mostly just because i can't picture in my head what the water pump did to the block. i've done some block repairs before but it's always been to a timing pulley bolt coming out and taking a chunk of the block with it. BratRod
The only thing that comes to my mind is the impeller eating away at the block? as mentioned above pics would be nice to have
Indrid cold
J.B. weld (epoxy) for Aluminum?
rumblee
I'll get some pics today. Probably going to use a bit of j.b. weld on it. Its' an ea82t and i doubt it will live too long with reduced flow from the pump...
ivans imports
Plane the pump houseing down a bitt move it closer to block might help take up clearance they can be realy bad and still no problems have seen a 1/4 inch of where and no problems the pumps going to work regardless if was a ej engine whould be worried but ea82 it will be fine
idosubaru
don't use jb weld for this application, i've seen it tried on block repairs and it sucks for those. it's fine for easy stuff but all the heat, vibration, etc here, i wouldn't use it if it's as bad as your description sounds. i'm with previous poster...post a pic and see what it looks like. Quidam
Just a couple of pictures so folks know what the pump and area look like. That's a Genuine Subaru gasket, it's multi layered. Here's hoping it can be surfaced and straightened up? Doug
