nipper
This is for the Justy but I don't think it matters to the question at hand. SMP (Standard Motor Products) Carter Bosch Beck/Arnley I used to just buy SMP/Hygrade by default, as that used to be a more complet kit. Beck/Arnley is on clearance give away price, but I can not find out what is in it. So aside from SMP, anyone have any opinions?
Quidam
Yea, not much info on the B/A "minor" kit. It might not include the base gaskets...on the other hand it could be Genuine Subaru stuff in it. Dunno. SMP should be a safe bet for a complete and quality kit. I like the Holley kits I've bought for Subaru. I think I'd avoid another ROYCE kit... I had one Genuine Subaru kit and of course, it was expected quality and complete. Good luck with it. Doug

New needle and seat, accelerator pump, and all the gaskets, etc,... One thing I do like about the Beck/Arnley kits is that they include self tapping screws for the choke housing instead of rivets. I can't remember if it has a new power valve. I will try to remember to take a look when I get home tonight.
nipper
Please do. I ordered the SMP form ebay for 14.00, and Rock has B/A on sale for ten bucks. I dont mind buying a couple of kits.
ferox
I can't remember if it has a new power valve. Now that I think about it I believe the Justy carb supplants the power valve with the duty solenoid. I checked my rebuild kit and it has %$&(% rivets I hate that. the B/A kits I get for my '81 have self-tappers. Anyway the kit has basically what I said before plus a few o-rings and a steel accelerator pump check ball. If you can't find any good carb replacements you could try swapping the brass and throttle shaft from the Justy Hitachi to an ea82 Hitachi. I am not sure what is involved in the ECVT assembly on the carb, but an ea82 carb is simpler, more plentiful, and no internal duty solenoid. That may throw a cel, but there are probably ways of tricking it and the carb would look stock for inspections.
nipper
Interesting. The CVT is just a pull cable that runs down under the throttle plate as opposed to the throttle that runs up and over. I have removed the 2nd cat and replaced it with a modern 3wya cat, so I think I have lots and lots leway to play with carbs and still pass NY inspection. NY only looks for a cat and evap system on this year. It is just a tailpipe and my mechanic has been known to *ahem* Use a modern car for comparision, and sometimes mix up the results on which is which The car has 30K on it so it really shouldnt be an issue on getting it to pass inspection. Just really pissed that I had one rebuilt and they left parts out.

I just tripped over someplace with NOS subaru (holly) carbs for 175 ish. I will share that after i get my answer (muhahaha)
nipper
I received the SMP kit. I remeber these, I used to sign off on them (worked for SMP in the 80's). It is actually a fairly complete kit, even if it does have rivets.
