Did the crankshaft pulley/harmonic balancer bolt break off?

Recommended Posts

Well I did the headgaskets in march of 2011 and torqued it to the subie spec of 78 ft lbs.... Which is wrong.... Enter wobbling bolt 1 year later and I think a part of the bolt snapped off. Also part of the black plastic thread came out with the bolt... Take a look see at the pics and tell me what I can do.... Or if i should just kill it with :Flame:.

Thanks for all the help in advance... Mind you this car makes me :drunk: (ie I may be drunk posting...) since I love my Saabs and this is just my inbetween car between the broken 99 VW passat 1.8 wagon (aka fast beater), the 99 and 01 Saab 9-3 Track and highly modded and the unreliable beater 96 ford escort I drive.... fml I should prolly not beat my cars like red headed step children... lol.

There is a recent post that the torque down to 78 foot pounds is incorrect, and is a book misprint. I seem to remember one guy saying he torques his to 185 foot pounds. Read all about this in a recent thread, use the "search" feature if need be.

Torqued it to the spec 125 ft lbs. I used the search function let me tell ya... I may use Rallitech/S-wings repair solution or fab up my own when I do the timing belt.

I'll be posting one more time with links to all the important and helpful threads on the PIA situation. This is the 4th time I've tightened down that bolt... But the 1st time with an unchewed balancer... You should see.. The woodruff key is marred but I'll make it work until it timing belt time.
