lets talk gear ratio's!! in ea82 manual

so im figuring out what the gears are in the transmission, and in the rear end in my ea82 4wd manual transmission. does any body know? im sure many of us would like to know so we can modify are subes further :brow:

ok i see what your saying, because it is a transaxle, the diff is in the transmission. so the final gear ratio 3.9 is what the front and the back diffs are, but then they also show the other gears

Well...

 

The 5MT on the FWD (2WD only) Models has very Long gears...

 

that makes 'em to be at very Low RPM's on High Speeds, but I Don't know the Final Ratio...

 

Sorry for Hijack the Tread but does anyone has that info?

 

The Chart posted on the Above Link only covers the 4WD models.

i just wanted to know the gears in my car witch is dr 4wd, and i found them. im curious to see what bigger tires will do to my highway speeds, and where it puts my rpm at what speed so i know where to drive in my torque range. witch is about 2700 to 3700 rpm

Actually, the peak torque doesn't start until 4200 rpms.

 

2700-3700 is a good cruising range, but not really the heart of the "torque range"

+1 I shift my car at 6K when Im going somewhere "hard" because it when I shift into the next gear (usually 2nd or 3rd) I start at about 4K and it just keeps on pullin!

even though the redline on the tack starts @ 5ooorpm? i tried shifting at 5k once and you can hear it loose power and "whine out"

 

doesnt that bother you that its bad to wrap it up that high in rpm

Im pretty sure mine starts at 6500... Ill check when I clean him out...

 

But if I try to drive at 6K rpms (like hold it) I can feel the loss in power, but under hard acceleration, I feel it pull the whole way... could be the Weber that provides the extra boost... but soobies love to high rev...

Usually I Shift at 4K, but I have Redlined my BumbleBeast during Speed changes on certain circumstances when accesing to a fast Highway is Needed or similar situations, that EA82 Weberized runs Awesome at Higher RPM's without any noticeable loss of power, and gotta Love that Boxer Rumble on Full Throttle!

Look at the Above Posted Link, is a Video, the RPM's gets up to 7,500! :eek:

Ive shifted there by accident once... guess I thought I was driving an auto or something cuz I looked down and was at 7500 in 2nd gear and shifted into 3rd and remained on the gas :brow: I had no idea they could chirp tires into 3rd haha

 

Edit: back on track, Wilcox, what set-up are you running? year/model and mods?

Just want to say thanks for the link to the list of D/R trans gears ratios!

 

Any way to tell a turbo 5 speed from a non turbo 5 speed by looking at it? Spline count, clutch type (push/pull), anything that clearly sets them apart?

Turbo transmissions (D/R anyway) have 25 splines, non-turbo 23.

i researched it and it depends, with stock components the peak torque comes in @ 3200rpm and peak power @ 5200 rpm. but that is also with the craptachi, so maybe the weber makes the difference.
