nathh
Sometimes when I start my car up, usually in the morning when it's cold, there's a sound which seems to be coming from my dash board which sounds just like running water. it sounds like a small stream rippling directly behind my instrument panel. what's THAT all about? thanks! GLCraig
You maybe low on coolant. Sometimes when the coolant level is low, coolant that's in the heater core will drain into other parts of the system when the engine is shut off. What you end up hearing is the coolant filling up the heater core.

nathh
thanks guys The car overheated once. I mean SERIOUSLY overheated, needle off the guage. the dealership wants me to get a HG job, I'd of course rather not, so I want to check every possible alternative. given that the car overheated that time, and now takes just 1.5 miles for the engine to heat up to normal operating temperature -- are there any other possible solutions BESIDES the HG? thanks
Setright
Due to the boxer configuration, Sube cooling systems can be tricky to purge of air. The procedure has been described a number of times by many of us on this board. Time for a search!
Sweet82
Most of my cars do this and have for ever..... I agree with everyone else, Check you coolant level....
capewaveride
A friend of mine had a gurgling running water sound that turned out to be a hole in the inner head gasket. The over heating makes me think this might be your problem too. 2.5 liter motor? See if there's air and/ or oil in your coolant.
