92_rugby_subie Posted May 9, 2012 Share Posted May 9, 2012 They arent difficult. Obviously gotta remove some stuff. Timing belts, valve covers and cam towers need to come off too. Get some assembly lube to put them back on... itll hold them in place so you dont drop them... If youre rebuilding them it doesnt matter much, but if you are just removing them... make sure to know which slot they came from Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

MilesFox Posted May 9, 2012 Share Posted May 9, 2012 replace the o-ring in the cam tower, as that causes lifter tick if it fails and sucks in to a pac-man shape. you should be able to wiggle and pull the hla free. It is probably stuck from suction with the oil behind it. There are smal holes near by you can shoot some compressed air to pop them out. Be ready to catch them! Are you doing a HG job? Cuz heads dont have to come off to get them out... Unless youre doing this out of the car and it doesnt matter, taking the heads off is just extra...
