cohophysh
So I am driving home in my 1990 legacy wagon, 2.2 l and the battery light, ebrake light and tail stop light all come on....is this an alternator issue????
nipper
Yes. Could be a battery issue too but I am going with the alt right now since you have the trifecta. Turn everything on in the car, get the revs over 1800 RPM and check voltage at battery. 13.5 or better (max 14) good, anything else not so much. cohophysh
:banghead::banghead::banghead: I have owned the same voltmeter since 84...and now it has gone missing. I used it within the last couple months.....:banghead::banghead:
davebugs
Very good odds it's the alternator. Like good enough to have it tested, or take it off and have it tested if you can't find your meter. Often the further you go you'll start loosing high RPM's too is another symptom because you're really running off of your battery.

eulogious
Alternator-fixed Hopefully not with the cheapo chinese "lifetime" warranty crap I slapped a '97 legacy subaru rebuilt alt in my 1990 for $78! Can't beat that price! Now I don't worry about having to replace the stupid thing when it fails, like the "lifetime" warranty crappy ones, and they ALWAYS fail! Glad you got it working!
