What should I take from this 89 XT6?

Recommended Posts

I have a (Converted)Rwd EA82 spfi N/A 88 GL wagon, someone is offering me a dirt cheap 89 flat 6 XT6 and I have no idea what to take other than the 5 lug stuff? If there are any parts interchangeable between the cars that have ANY worth or even look cool that I wont notice, I would love to hear about it

I would dig around in the car and see if there are any interesting interior bits that will swap over. Also, check the XT boards and see if they have any uncommon/hard to find bits that they are always scrambling for.

Good idea, I'm gonna be able to probably literally make money off this car in the long run doing that, I'm picking it up for 250

does...gulp....does it have rear LSD?

Highly unlikely - XT6's didn't come with rear LSD. It was an option but not one you'll likely see. It would be as likely as finding it on any other Subaru of that era...which we know how often that happens.

I was talking to an owner of a Subaru shop and he was talking about an early 90s Legacy LSD Diff that swaps directly into my GL... I'ma talk to him later today but I might go down that path, considering its probably built a little better than my current diff lol

swap the mirrors, they fit and theyre cool. grab the trans, which one is it? the lsd your buddy has is a vlsd and isnt worth it, in all probability. as opposed to old soob lsd which are clutch type (and rebuildable), the vlsd is actuated via a viscous (V) fluid which wears out and is inserviceable. unless this unit has way low miles on it steer clear

i would probably just fix it.. xt6's are very quick..

but if it were beyond repair then take EVERYTHING!

theres nothing on that car that isnt worth pulling...except for the electric p/s

my brother had an 87 gl wagon dual range that had a factory lsd. it was a monster.:D

But seriously, you should check out the steering column covers. If they're in good condition, I want those. Also, the power window control unit. I also might be interested in the power steering :-p

Additionally, I would want the vent that's just to the left of the instrument panel, but inside the trim. Once again depending on condition!
