SubiDemon
Hey guys, hopefully you can point me in the right direction. My car is a 1990 Legacy wagon with 5mt I pulled into a parking lot yesterday and when I tried to downshift into 2nd, it wasn't there. There is no grinding, or noises of any kind. It's like 2nd gear just isn't an option in the shift pattern anymore. Is this a shifter or transmission problem?
Robert Harik
Will it shift into second with the engine off?
rallynutdon
It ccould be a broken shifter fork. I had 2 where they broke for 1st gear from being forced in to 1st (both rallycross/racing situations).
SubiDemon
on my way home from school today I tried pushing the shifter as far to the left as I could repeatedly and then tried pulling it down into second and it worked! 3rd gear no longer grinds either. But, by the time I got home it was grinding going into 2nd. Is there a way to adjust the linkage? When I was inspecting it yesterday I saw it was a single rod that rotates for the left right motion at the stick and goes forward and back for the same direction at the stick. rallynutdon
Is your clutch adjusted properly? No way to "adjust" shift linkage.
