1-3-2-4
I did this on a Forester before to change the inner cv boot but I forgot what I need to do to clear the inner part from the splines.. I know I did not have to do all they said in the service manual (anti-roll bar and so on) Oh I think I had to remove both strut bolts if I'm right and making sure I mark the camber before I do. bratman18
removing the nut from the lower ball joint and then removing the lower control arm from the ball joint will help a lot.
Fairtax4me
Remove the upper strut bolt, loosen the lower. Ifd the car has any age there will be pretty clear marks on the knuckle where the strut was. That gives just enough room to pull the inner axle cup off the stub shaft.
1-3-2-4
yeah that's what I did I marked the camber and removed it got the axles out. I don't think Subaru ever came with black axle cups in this generation of models? the spring pin for the passenger side for sure is not stock.. Mikevan10
Remove the nut on the outboard end of the drive axle. Remove the lower ball joint to control arm nut. Separate the lower ball joint stud from the lower control arm. Remove the anti sway bar bolt that connects the sway bar to the lower control arm. Drive the spring pin out of the inner joint on the drive axle (where it splines onto the transaxle output shaft. Remove the drive axle.
hohieu
Unless you're replacing the ball joint, I wouldn't touch it. As mentioned, remove the sway bar linkage bolt; then remove the pinch bolt at the pivot point of the lower control arm. There's enough flex in the rear bushing of the lower control arm to remove the half shaft from the transmission.
