robertmcginn
I want to tow behind my motorhome my 1990 Legacy L Wagon, Front wheel drive, automatic 4EATC transmission, 2200cc motor. Can I put in neutral and flat tow (4 wheels on the ground) or do I have to use a tow dolly (2 front wheels up). I get a lot of yes and no's on either way. Does anyone know? Fairtax4me
If its truly FWD you can put it on a dolly, but I've always preferred to tow a real trailer with BRAKES, when pulling a car around. And not that you'll be doing much reversing with an RV, but backing up is impossible with a dolly.
mikaleda
before you get a dolly and tow it you might want to make sure its front wheel drive. i know i have a 90 subaru legacy all wheel drive and the symbol for all wheel drive looks a lot like fwd. johnceggleston
Im certain it is a FWD, I used my VIN number and found the Subaru codes on line for Subaru VIN,s and it is definetey a FWD, automatic, front up and rear down, or all 4 up. no other choices. well maybe one, add an aux. electric trans fluid pump. but i'm not even sure they have them or if they would work on this trans. check with an RV supply company. then you could do all 4 down. ShawnW
Dolly only. Or buy a different Subaru with a manual transmission so you can flat tow. For the price of a dolly you can often buy a different car.
robertmcginn
I have checked around for a lube pump for my Suburu FWD, auto, to make it flat towable, It appears that no one makes a lube pump for my Suburu..only other option is to install axle locks on each front wheel...way too expensive. If I could find a aux. elec lube pump that works on my Suburu 1990 Legacy L Wagon, FWD, Auto. I would be in business... can anyone out there stear me in the right direction? mikaleda
check online for used tow dollys, that would be a less expensive fix. that is what i would do.
