Suba_GL_87 Posted June 11, 2012 Share Posted June 11, 2012 wonder if have to follow, timing-Belt's white marker alignment OR Have to follow camshaft's sprocket alignment? because i notice belt's white marker away from 2-3 teeth off than camshaft alignment. or it's wrong belt? Suba_GL_87 Posted June 11, 2012 Author Share Posted June 11, 2012 it's sohc. mine is dohc.. i think belt is mess it up.. i've been try to perfect on the white marker but there skip 2 or 3 teeth...it's joker belt than Queen sprocket. crankshaft's sprocket is king. what if not follow the white maker belt than camshaft's sprocket alignment? idosubaru Posted June 11, 2012 Share Posted June 11, 2012 ignore the white marks on the belt. *** it is the cam shaft and crank marks that matter. it's an engine - an engine needs the cam and crank lined up. the engine does not have some magical eye that looks at white marks on the belt. if the PROPER crank mark is lined up and both cams are lined up - then it's right. they are only supposed to be an aid, if they don't help then ignore them. you should not have any problems with the wrong belt, the DOHC belt is so long that you can't really get the wrong belt as a wrong belt won't even come close to fitting. it's hard to understand you: what if not follow the white maker belt than camshaft's sprocket alignment? that entire sentence is hard...actually impossible to follow...i can interpret it a few different ways. davebugs Posted June 11, 2012 Share Posted June 11, 2012 FYI I use Dayco belts on DOHC's and on the drivers side the hash marks on the cam sprockets never seem to quite match up to each other (bottom of intake sprocket/top or exhaust sprocket) but all the other ones seem to.
