Numbchux
I put a set of Kumho VictoRacers (probably oversized) in a 225/55r16 on factory 16x6.5s. They rubbed on the trailing arm something fierce. I don't know what the offset on those is, so you might be ok
suberdave
i have some 205/55r16's on wrx wheels, on my coupe right now, they fit just fine... i mounted some 225/45R17's on it, on some volk 17X8s and they fit also. but they did rub a little on full turn. and did stick out a bit. -=Suberdave=-

Caboobaroo
I have a set of Enkei RPF1s 17x8 +45 with 215/45R17 Toyo Proxes 4s on my XT6. The tires barely scrub on the rear coil springs under hard cornering, just enough to take the paint off. For me, the best offset to run would be a +40 on the XT6 as I have a lot of clearance in the rear wheel arches. However, I ran this same wheel/tire combo on my '87 EA82 coupe and they rubbed the wheel arch in the rear under hard cornering but only on the right rear. Unless I was able to pull the rear quarters out a bit, I didn't think a wider tire or different offset would work.
Numbchux
maybe the 55 was to high ? Height wouldn't matter. I don't know the offset of stock WRX wheels, so there might be some extra to be gained, but probably not enough to clear the suspension without having body issues. 17x8 +48: with 215/45r17s, rolled, but not pulled

wentz912
I'm running 205/50 17 iPikes on 08 wrx alloys, plus a 5mm spacer. minor rubbing on the bottom corner of the front fenders. 97 Impreza outback struts in the front with STi springs.

Caboobaroo
Yes it will rub. My roommate wanted to see how my wheels would look on his old RS so he swapped his Prodrive P1 17x7 +53 and they rubbed bad.

Numbchux
I wouldn't run a 225 on an EA82 without some serious fender pulling. And 53 offset might be too high, even with a 7" wide wheel.
Caboobaroo
You would want to get probably a 10mm spacer to keep them away from the trailing arms but you won't be able to run anything wider then a 215. EA82 cars seem to have way smaller wheel wells then the XT6. The set of Enkeis i have are on my XT6 but i have also had them on my '87 EA82 coupe and they seem a lot smaller on the XT6. Thinking I might step up to a 18x8.5" +38 for it. Edited June 27, 2012 by Caboobaroo
