Durania Posted June 19, 2012 Share Posted June 19, 2012 The right rear on my 95 Outback doesn't seem to be grabbing as well as the driver's side caliper. Are there any goofy bolt sizes on the brake line? Don't want to strip anything out and want to make sure I have the right tools on hand first. Thanks. idosubaru Posted June 19, 2012 Share Posted June 19, 2012 all metric and regular bolts. be prepared for rust if you have any down there. the sliding pins are likely gummed up and seized. that's the most common issue. hopefully you can free them up, usually they just take some wrestling, but sometimes they are so bad you can't get them out of the bores without torching them...but i don't know how bad rust gets in TN? most early to mid 90's Subaru's around here can have some significant rust on them. i have also seen black build up/corrossion on the brake pad clips cause the pad to hang and not be able to press firmly against the rotor. replacing the caliper clips is a grand idea if you're up to finding them and ordering them. or clean your old ones. porcupine73 Posted June 19, 2012 Share Posted June 19, 2012 The caliper bracket to bearing housing bolts are normally 17mm...or was it 14mm. Those are also normally the hardest to get out if they are rusty. Usually I replace those because they are known to shear off. The banjo bolt to the caliper is usually 14mm I think? Or maybe 12mm.
