88xt6joe
Anyone ever tried one of the pop-a-dent things that they show on TV. I want to get a few dents out of my XT6 and was wondering if they work. Thanks, Joe
bushbasher
it may lift shallow creaseless dents such as those caused by people sitting on your hood etc, but only the kind of shallow dent that would pop back if you pushed on it from the other side by hand. So its basically useless.
88xt6joe
Kinda what I thought but figured I would ask. So what would be the best way to take the dents out. This is a pic of the dents in mention. Thanks, Joe
Hondasucks
Yeah it pops the dent out, but it won't relieve the stress that is in the metal, so it will "oil can", or pop in and out very easily, but it'd prolly look better than before. I'd recommend trying to get behind the dents and popping them out by hand, or with a block of wood and a mallet (just be careful not to hit it too hard, better to hit it with several soft blows than one big one) Just saw your pic, I think if you remov e the back seat and the interior trim on the inside, you should be able to pop that out with a block of wood and a 5 or 10 lb mallet ("Dead Blow" hammers work great)
Subi81
I had some dents like that on my 86 wagons pass door. Took off the interier panals and was able to reach throught all the window gears and such and popped it out with the aid of my foot. Tried to do the same on the rear door but the safty bar was bent too and I couldn't get a good enough angle on it to pop it out, the bar was to strong. Good luck

thealleyboy
There are many ways to hammer, pry and bump out dents. I have found that "home made" body tools often work best. The trick is to have access, and to get the right kind of leverage to restore the original shape. Problem is you can create more damage than you started off with if you don't have enough experience. It's best to practice on some junky cars before attempting serious body work on your pride and joy. If you want to try a "dent removal" system, Eastwood Supply carries a good one that DOES work, which welds a stud onto the panel that can be easily pulled. It'll set you back quite a bit more than $19.99, however. But this is a good, safe alternative to a profeessional shop, and will pay for itself over time. I would reccomend the Eastwood system for the dent shown in the pic. Eastwoods # is 1-800-345-1178. good luck, John
