idosubaru Posted June 22, 2012 Share Posted June 22, 2012 The process of installing the bearings on the front hubs took some time and lots of impacting. Through the process and vibrations the grease was contaminated and the bearing cages fell out (multiple times). Seems like I should be able to simply clean everything up, regrease and put them back in right? Synthetic high temperature wheel bearing grease? idosubaru Posted June 25, 2012 Author Share Posted June 25, 2012 they have a retaining plastic thing in the middle of them and they do come apart....at least these do? i'm just going to clean them up and finish up the install at this point. i agree - i'm looking for some used knuckles too. porcupine73 Posted June 25, 2012 Share Posted June 25, 2012 If your bearing is the same as the one I received, with the plastic ring, I would think you could repack them even with the race installed already. Once I popped out that yellow ring, the inner and outer bearings were free to come out of the race and tried to escape.
