GTlegs
Hi All, The bracket holding the battery down in my L-series is getting calcification on it - see picture attached. Battery holds charge fine. Why would it be doing it? Thanks!
GeneralDisorder
It's not calcification. It's the dry form of battery acid. It means there is some leakage going on around your terminals. You can clean it with baking soda and water then grease the terminals with a good dielectric grease. That will help prevent it from forming. A new battery will be in order eventually - leakage like that begins the end-life of a "maintenance free" battery. Kmart in Austrailia.... wow. GTlegs
Thanks for that. The acid is around the hold down clamp only though, not on the terminals - does that mean anything? Yeah KMart is the lowest rung department store here.
djellum
terminals, caps, cracks in the case. The fumes can condense on stuff around the battery, or it could be liquid getting out somewhere. Drycells or gelcells dont have the acid, so I like them when possible. no corrosion like that.
