Tanner F
How do you pull the oil pump on a 1980 1600 motor? I do not have experience working on these. Any description would be appreciated.
mikaleda
its easy i just did this on my 80 gl 1600 all you do is pull the four bolts and then with the filter on twist slightly and pull. you might have to wiggle it a little bit to get it free. on install the hardest part is getting the slot lined up just make sure that the oil pump is seated to the block before you start wrenching. oh and just fyi its two screws and you can rebuild the pump i did mine in five minuets they sell a rebuild kit on rock auto for $10 look under an 80 brat 1600 (same motor) i ordered it for my gl and it worked fine
Tanner F
Thanks, just pulled it and Im probably just going to replace it since it has about 200,000 on it and the spacer that mounts to it is cracked.
