1983 GL Spits Throug Carb, New Weber

Recommended Posts

I had a Carter 1 barrel and it would not run above idle.

Changed the intake manifold and installed NEW Weber.

It still will not run above idle with out spiting through carb and dies.

Checked compression and ALL cylinders had 140 PSI.

Moved timing from the top of the distributor slot to the bottom and everywhere between. Checked he rotor location at TDC, it is OK.

The fuel pump pressure is 4PSI but I have a new pump ordered just in case.

Which side of the car is the fuel pump on?

HELP!!!!!!

Thank you

Jack

Fuel pump is on the passengers side of the car, just in front of the rear wheel.

Don't know if it's your issue, but the only time my carb ('83 GL, both with carter and weber) ever spit out gas was when I had the plug wires mixed up.

If you installed a new weber and it still won't idle, I'd double check your vacuum lines to make sure everything is plugged/installed, and then refer to the weber tuning instructions found here...

had a loyale yesterday that they had put distrubutor in 180 and moved the plug wires to get it to run but distrubutor whould not go into the range needed was 30 degrees advanced and run badly poping out the carb uhsaly means to far retarded timing
