The Dude
My GF really loves her new 2012 Impreza Hatchback. She likes everything except the factory radio and speakers. So, does anyone know how to get to the factory double DIN radio and factory speakers in the front doors? Thanks. It's very hard to believe that in 2012 the Subaru factory radio still doesn't have either a front aux or a USB connector. But, it's true. Anyway, I'd rather have a great car with a crappy factory radio than a crappy car with a great factory radio.
edrach
Having done a few of my own radio installs, I've come to the conclusion to find a reputable shop and buy the radio of my choice and let them install it along with the new speakers. At least if they break it, it's on them and not me.

It's not hard to do as long as you know the exact disassembly procedure. Try to move a piece of trim out of sequence and you will hear the sicking sound of plastic snapping. crazyman03
If i remember correctly, they are just pop-ins on the dash. Use a Flat-head screwdriver or a soft plastic tool to pop it off without damaging it. Video ;-): I've done a number of my own installs/removals as well as some monster installs. The doors are usually pretty strait-forward, check for any anchor screws, usually in the armrest/handle and behind the door handle. Again, pop-in/outs.. Dont force it but just keep an eye on it and see how it comes out. As far as the speakers, if you replace them, I'd be sure to tap (clip into) to the plug instead of cutting the plug off. Makes for putting the stock ones back in easier if/when you sell the car. If not, you can but-connect new wires to it or wire directly to the speaker. -Justin
