Durania
03 legacy Head gaskets replaced 2 years ago. Cap has been popping off here lately and causing coolant to spill. What could cause this? Not my car, just going by what my buddy tells me.

Durania
Will advise. New one to me. Never heard of that cap wearing out. He did text me back later and said he had been hearing air in the system at startup. Yeah...:-\
Fairtax4me
Replace the radiator cap. If coolant is pushing out of the reservoir it is either boiling, over-pressured, or over-filled. 2 of those can be caused by a bad radiator cap.

I have had some weird issues when it comes to radiator caps failing. Thanks guys.
1997reduxe
use a subaru cap, right?
Fairtax4me
I think a Subaru cap is only like $10 or $12. Parts store cap is what... $8? Might as well get the real thing. Knowing Subaru cooling systems and their penchant for pickiness...
themoneypit
or its the dreaded headgaskets are bad and pumping exhaust gas into the system overpressurizing it and doing it. i know the pre 99s were NOTORIOUS for that, and the 00-03s were semi prone, but usually leak externally. keep us updated.
