Subaru BRZ....

Recommended Posts

i pulled up next to the scion version in my lifted wag and told the guy 'nice soob' his look was hilarious as he was like ......'its a scion' if it were anything BUT a soob itd be a yota. scion......pffft nothing but rebadgery aimed at youngifying the outdated 'old people' opinions cars like the camry have. end rant.

It was designed by a pair of designers from Toyota. The trans is Toyota. The rear end probably is too but I haven't checked. Parts of the fuel injection system are Toyota. Its his car, let him call it what he wants. Its a joint venture and being upset that people aren't calling it a Subaru is silly.

Its like saying you are only your Mothers genetic makeup. What makes us great is the genes of both of our parents just like the car in this case.

i agree too. and it was silly. i did it for comedic value, i didnt chase him down the road or anything. nor do i hold scion owners responsible for what the company itself claims ("worlds first boxer"....blah blah blah). lots of designers make the rounds to several companies during their respective careers, why do ya think everything looked like a ford taurus/ honda civic for so long. i think a little ribbing is needed in the world, keeps us humble.

Did they really say that about the worlds first boxer?? I haven't seen any scion versions but a few Subaru versions.. maybe 3 on the road so far.

i read in the ''you know youre a soob owner if'' thread, which i would quote if i wasnt on my phone, that screeming at the screen, '' no its not!!'' makes you a soob owner. i will re concede Shawn's point is 100% correct. it was silly, it is that guys um, scion. still a cool ride, kinda like the holden commedore/gto

To put that quote back in context, it's "the worlds first boxer engine......with direct injection". Which is absolutely true. I admit, the first time I saw the ad, I had a moment of WTF during that pause.

I drove the FR-S at the local dealership within a few days that it was on the showroom floor. I was beyond impressed. Light, agile, nimble, comfortable, glorious. Will most likely be my next car.

I have not driven one. But, everyone I know that has loves it. For all the reason that numbchux pointed out. Time to back off. Especially the ones who can't afford one and/or will not be buying new anyway.
