Jellyhead
Well, I've got some major amount of coolant coming out of my passenger side exhaust. I suspect a cracked head. (85 GL wagon, carbed, ea82) I started by pulling the timing covers and timing belts, intake, and got the cam covers off. It looks like I can get the head off, if I jack the engine up a bit. Can it be done? or am I just going to run into a huge wall here. I don't have a picker or a rafter or tree, just nothing to pull the engine up with. I do have a floor jack, and figured I could at least get the engine up enough to do it..... Any tips or pointers would be great, Thanks. thealleyboy
Aaron: If you had to do one side without pulling the motor, the passeneger is the easiest. However, I would seriously consider pulling the motor and doing BOTH headgaskets, belts, seals and any other maintenance procedures that are due (or coming due). Access will be best with the motor out, and you can maximize your effort by getting the motor in tip top shape. Even for the head gasket, removal of the engine is still probably the fastest method overall. If this car is a "keeper", give this possibility some thought. good luck, John
