kiwi subbie
Ive picked up a 1983 RX Leone a few weeks ago. Plan is to tidy up/ restore it. It is a runner but needs a bit of work doing to it. Hopefully mite have it running back on the road soon ( few Weeks ), depending on chance of getting time to work on it. Its a 1983 model twin carb EA81, 4speed manual with Hi/Low. 81MV
Such a good-looking car. Great colour, great wheels... Some of these came to the UK but I'd be surprised if there are any left (rust killed them off in double-quick time). MORE PHOTOS PLEASE! I'd better post some photos of my new GLF hatch project! TheLoyale
Where is it located? It varies per year and model (Combi, Saloon, Coupe' ect..) It will be a little metallic sticker with two or three numbers on it, sometimes on the front Radiator support, Door jam, Strut tower. el_freddo
Sweet Ride!! How many k's and is it the original paint? Very clean! Think I'm going to have to save some coin and sort a shipping container to fill with some choice subi's to enjoy cruising in! Yes I guess thats the case. or its in Japanese and cant tell lol. I will do some more pics. Just don't have my camera on me. Today I did a little more on it. Pulled out some of the interior, bottem part of rear seat and some side panels to pull out the old ripped seat belt. Also got as far as taking wheel off. Now just need time and good weather to replace shot cv boot on drivers side.
kiwi subbie
Ive slowly been working on it. Its all pretty much back together. Just need to wire up a bypass switch to turn on the radiator cooling fan. Then I can start driving it again.
el_freddo
G'day mate, This is how I wired up a switch to activate one of the fans: Works a treat. But: If you need this to keep the car cool then there's either something else wrong with the cooling system OR the bash plate and two factory stone guard/oil catch plates (what ever you want to call them) are missing - these create a negative pressure in the engine bay that effectively sucks air through the radiator. Also block any gaps around the radiator, I know our brumby has a good one inch gap on one side of it. Must be an MY thing Cheers Bennie
rxleone
Nice score! I'll have to keep an eye out for it when I'm cruising around. By the way, there's an 83' EA71 (i think) sedan at the Pickapart out on Halswell Junction Road if you need any parts. Radiator Themo Switch doesent work. So fan currently not working. I will order a new one but a replacement aftermarket one isn't cheap. and Gen Subaru is worse.... $170 Its Cheaper for me just to run a bypass as a temporary / back up switch. hatchsub
Ug what i would do to have that car. So jealous! Nice score. I wish we got the RX over here in EA81 twin carb form instead of just the EA82t variety.
