Feel free to give me grief about this, but....

I hafta ask why? 'yota engines are pretty good. And if it needed a motor, a chevy 4.3 is a fairly common swap. Oodles of torque, especially in a light truck.

Or is this a case of being different, and using the parts you already have layin around?

He knows that if it doesn't have a subaru motor in it I won't let him play with it in the mudpit at next years WCSS. :drunk:

Let me?:burnout:

That sounds like a challenge :Flame:

LOL

SPAZO, A chevy 4.3 brings more problems.More power equals more breakage.

I am pushing it with the Subie motor as it is.

AND , I have the engine, bellhousing, and desire to use a setup that I already know.

AND , I have always been , well, different...

The truck was not attainable for me with the engine in it.

I really did not even want one with cage work done already, because I wanted to do it.However, it is kinda working out to be way easier in the long run with attaining this truck.

Hi, My name is Monstaru(IE:a derivative of Subaru and different partsmaking up the sum or whole of a vehicle),and I am a wheeler. LOL

Besides, how ************ing cool is it that I can put a Subaru engine into a badass Toyota truck?:cool:

Cheers

IMG_1106.jpg

1/4 inch pressed ceenters from trailwortyfab.com, into HMMWV double beadlocks with rubber runflats.

Thats my wheels.

Hopefully this will go smoothly,I am gonna have to try an retrofit a Subie hydro clutch to the Toyota system.Mr.Hinchers best...

IMG_1117_zps57531a3a.jpg

I have the ************in shifter rail in backwards!!DOH

IMG_1119_zpsa15adeac.jpg

Otherwise theses would be tight together by now.....

More to come i guess.

I shall now lay it out for you:

85 Toyota shortbed frame with Ext cab, double bobbed bed

Ej frankenmotor

W56 5 spd

4.7:1 t-case

4.88 axles with lockright in front , v6 third out back (probably gonna weld it)

trussed, built to ************ front housing.Rear needs some love, but I think I'll wait until I put my v6 rearend in there.

From Stella besides the motor

02 WRX seats, cb, lights, etc....

So far so good.

Need hysteer, ARP knuckle studs, add 5th stud, and possibly a new ring and pinion for the front.

Otherr than that , Wire up the engine to the Yota harness, and make some engine mounts.

Hopefully I have an engine to use as a mock up within a week. Then hopefully after the holidays I'll have some dough to finish throwing at her.

Cheers

Have you done any measuring of the engine bay? I've long wondered if a Subaru engine would fit between the frame rails of a Toyota.

That is what I am tackling now.I am the point I need an engine to lay up in there.I am working on it.trust me , damnit :)

It IS going down.

This is kinda my dream.

I will make room if there is not

:D

SOON.SOOOOONNNN!!!!!!!!!!

Ya this is gonna be good... I think (read: am not sure) that the heads will actually be close to being above the frame rails based on the elevation of the trans etc.....

On another note alltogether, I think my FJ80 needs a 3.3 and a manual tranny, I am SURE they would fit under the hood of that thing. Realistically it will have a diesel in it before I put a boxer in it though.....

So, the distance between the 82 Toyota framerails(which is the same up to 85) is 22 ish inches.

The width of the EJ is about 29 inches.Hopefully my luck is with me and I can keep it high enough to stay intside of my shock mounts.Or I might have to take the ford towers out and make some Tube mounts.

We'll see.I may just have to flatbelly the whole shebang.Just so the engine is high enough. :)

cheers
