subarurx yo
ill start off first saying, i know it's a very big no no to do this and, yes i boosted a 11:1 ish hybrid franken moter with no management all stock internals and a ea tiny turbo and am running 5psi and im not looking for criticism about what could happen or anything, just sharing. I did a ghetto methanol/water injection using the washer tank and a pressure switch spaying before the compressor on turbo in hope of it mixing better and i get full boost at 2k so lag is almost non existent Ive been daily driving for a few months now over 2k miles and it produces a very clean feeling power to 6500 no fuel cuts or detonation signs and i mash ALL the time on it:brow:, im running all 92 ej22e engine control, just thought i would share

idosubaru
Did you modify the EJ22 exhaust yourself or....?
subarurx yo
i found some wrx manifolds and modified it to clear the waterpump instead of getting a turbo pump that costs more money haha. ill try to get pics up just gotta figure it out
Fairtax4me
High compression and forced induction don't usually get used together because of the sheer amount of heat created by the combustion. It tends to melt things. If you can cool the incoming air enough you can avoid some of the damage. The biggest thing is keeping combustion temperature down which is usually done by enriching the fuel/air mixture. If the ECU can adjust the mixture enough it could be fine. How are outside air temps in your area?

subarurx yo
outside air has been kinda cold usually between 30-60 degrees this time of year i am also now injecting a little washer fluid in the intake Edited December 8, 2012 by subarurx yo

idosubaru
did you think about a supercharger at all or i guess those early turbos are easy and cheap to get? i've always wanted time to do what you're doing, but would use a supercharger instead just to avoid all the turbo exhaust plumbing. nice work getting around all that. subarurx yo
supercharchers seem a little more spendy, plus i had a ea82t layin arround that came from the car
torxxx
11:1 with a turbo? Can we say detonation queen? I love the idea of Frankenmotors, to the point where I'm building one myself, but its staying an N/A engine.
zukiru
sometimes it's fun to just do things the wrong way and let it hold together as long as it will have fun, blow the sucker up and... have somebody ready to tow it

subarurx yo
i figure a $90 shortblock that gives me at least a few months of fun and takes a day to swap is worth it to me
Fairtax4me
I'd like to hear how it does when it gets up to 85-100 degrees outside. If I had parts cars sitting around, I'd probably do the same thing.
subarurx yo
before i injected it with the water/meth occasionally i got a little surge:horse: that freaked me out and i quit over all that i added it that was at first around 65 degrees outside
