kabarakh
Does anyone know the part number for the Heater Control Valve? (1983 Subaru GL Wagon) Thanks!
mikaleda
I don't think Subaru uses a valve I am pretty sure they use a flap over the heater core
Idasho
its a valve dude. I dont think it is available anymore. What is wrong with yours? Most of the time they just get gummed up, or the mechanism from the temp control knob gets broken.

mikaleda
Yes it does. It's been removed then I just assumed it was like the later modles. Glad I found this out, now I know where to get a valve Edited December 10, 2012 by mikaleda
Idasho
My 80 gl wagon doesn't have a valve just saying stick your noggin under the dash by the pedals. Its there. The valve allows the coolant to bypass the heater core.

Most of the time they just get gummed up, or the mechanism from the temp control knob gets broken. Mine isn't broken, but I'm getting ready to replace the heater core on my girlfriends subaru (using the USRM method) and figured as long as I was in there I would replace the valve as well.
