ivans imports
I have a pile of brat parts also i put a ea82 carb on the 1.6 intake thiss works good and way easyer to find the ea82 carb has a hudge secondary so pulls hard i just ahd to move the studs outwards and open up the hole a bitt and it had to be a 85-87 non ecc carb all the air fillter box and other stuff pluged in fine. and the old 77 dl will cook the tires off

Kevint143
Thanks! Today was a good day. Got the new Axle and Ball joint in. decided the front calipers need to be changed and ordered those parts. All in all it was a good day of learning everything seemed to go together relatively easily. Untitled by Kevin Talley, on Flickr My buddy snapped a pic of me installing the ball joint Untitled by Kevin Talley, on Flickr Old and new Ball joints Untitled by Kevin Talley, on Flickr crappy picture of the BRAT sitting on the ground! Kevint143
So I have been at the house a lot since my new born is here and my 4 year old daughter and I have been taking peices off the BRAT to clean them up and paint them and getting things ready for the turbo install. She has taken a real interest in whats going on when I am working on it and that is one of the reasons this car isn't being sold anymore =) Pulled the Valve Covers and cleaned them up and put new gaskets on. Painted the tops of all of my filters. And finally got this little one in my hands. Now I am just waiting on the ehaust manifold to be finished and I will be putting together a Turbo 1.6 Brat And for the Non subaru stuff. Here is the my son Hunter.

Subieguy
How do you smog this with a Weber on it? There is no way in hell that is smog legal. I would love to go the Weber route. Only way I could see doing it would be to pull it off and put all the stock garbage back on every 2 years to smog it.
Kevint143
It's probably best we don't ask about smog =)

Kevint143
So I am prepared for the haters who are going to hate. I lowered the front of my brat. I will be lowering the rear once we address a broken bolt head on the torsion bar. Untitled by Kevin Talley, on Flickr Untitled by Kevin Talley, on Flickr Really loving the difference it makes in handling. Also today on the way to subiefest I encountered some road debris and my rear tire blew out going 65 in Mojave, CA. After having my mother in law drive about 80 miles to bring me my spare with a new tire on it we got rolling again and decided to just return home. Untitled by Kevin Talley, on Flickr the tire dented the back of the car broke the tail light and took my mudflap from me! Other than that after putting the new tire on and a combination of the steadiness the new suspension gives the front end I hit a new record for speed. 87mph COuld have given it a little more but decided I better not risk the ticket! Kevint143
Thanks for the Kind words ben! So I picked up a roll bar for the brat and also a buddy of mine saved a 1980 BRAT GL that has blown head gaskets and a few other issues...we will be bringing it back to life but for $300 can't complain. I will probably start a build thread for the cotton candy brat =)
Kevint143
Also, after my blow out the tire whipping around cracked my rear driver side tail light and ripped my mud flap off. If anyone has either of those items for sale/trade let me know please.
Kevint143
SO last night after tearing a big chunk out of my plastidip I decided to test a new color out...So here is the last picture of my brat being black =)
Rodeo4jake
Hey mate, That green will look really good I think, can't wait to see it done. I was wondering how you lowered the front end, I really like it. I have been considering doing this to mine ever since I got it. Cheers Jake
Kevint143
Thanks I'm excited to do the green. I'm Going to get all the black peeled off and get it done ASAP. As for the front end I'm probably going to get some flack for doing it this way but we just took the springs out and are sitting on the bump stops. I'm in the process of collecting some new suspension all around and will be changing the front to coilovers and the rear to independent rear suspension as well. Kevint143
Today we got the first Coat of Apline Green done on the BRAT. I decided to keep the hood and roof black. We started adjusting the Torsion Bars but ran out of day light and broke a few bolt heads so that will happen tomorrow. We also painted the wheels white to give them a better look! Kevint143
We got the torsion bars all figured out and got the rear end tucked away last night! now to even the front with the back. the bottom of my exhaust is sitting about 5 1/2 inches off the ground and the body is about 7 inches or so just a tad bit higher than a beer can
Kevint143
A day shot and after my blow out a few weeks back I thought I lost my mudflap. I walked along the highway and found it while we were waiting for help to arrive and today I discovered the mounting bracket was still attacked just bent to hell so I twisted it all back and got it mounted back on!
