scoobywagon45
Hi, my when my turbo kicks on my 1988 gl 10 it emitts a weird smell. I cant smell it in the car, but when i step out after I turn it off i can smell it. It smells like a caterpillar, i cant link it with anything else than a caterpillar. What the hell is this? is my turbo actually a giant caterpillar in disguise or is it something else?!?

MilesFox
I would go for burning oil smell. Mark that one for your vocabulary of smells as knowing different smells comes in handy for troubleshooting cars.

Gloyale
Burning coolant. Probably cracked heads in the exhaust port. Check you coolant regularly and you can drive it for a long time still.
Turbone
Well, we dont have smell a vision here so everything is speculation. Keep a eye on all fluid levels and for smoke, thats all we can suggest.
