SubieTrav
Is the Subaru Life Long Coolant better than regular coolants, can it be mixed with regular coolant. Does it have the conditioner added to it.
nickb21
Do you mean the new (2008-and up) "Super" Blue long life coolant? Or the regular stuff? I believe as long as it's a silicate free coolant it should pretty much be ok. Some interesting reading here, too bad the endwrench article isn't around anymore.. http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=994313 http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?p=29981772
SubieTrav
http://tinyurl.com/au35bbl This is the ad I saw on Craig's List and thought maybe it would be a better coolant. But after reading the bob is the oil guy I guess it is about the same as regular that I bought at Auto Zone.
nickb21
Yea that CL ad is for the regular 'green type' coolant. I believe the blue extended drain stuff has the words 'super' on the bottle. I wonder if the SOA stuff is pre-mixed 50/50? If it isn't that's probably a good price. IMO, changing the coolant on schedule is more important than the brand name. I've used the regular prestone stuff, and one of the peak types in the past.
ShawnW
The dye is certainly different but I don't think its worth extra money. For $10 you can't go wrong. Its a real pretty color of green compared to a traditional gallon of Prestone or other house brand antifreeze. That jug is the Full Strength stuff so you need to mix it with distilled water to use it.

shortlid
so in my '03Leg GT with EJ253 regular old Prestone "yellow now" that is Phosphate and silicate free will work. Or should I use the Zerex HOAT Asian vehicle stuff for my Toyota?
