saltytheseadog
Both my SPFI non turbo Loyale wagons have done this at times; with engine warmed up, usually at a stop light. they hunt between 850-1150 RPM . Not all the time but often enough to be annoying
ivantruckman
in my case I cleaned the idle air control valve ,( it had carbon buildup on it) and I had scale buildup on the coolant temp sensor , after doing this my idle was rock solid .
Cougar
Check the intake manifold gaskets for a air leak. That is a fairly common problem with these cars.

superpoo93
I had the up/down idle for a long time. Cleaned the IAC but still had bad idle. Found reconditioned one on Ebay for $50, slapped it on and no more idle issues....purrrrr. As for the duct work changing also has not done it since. MR_Loyale
Mine has done that on and off throughout the years. Cleaned IAC several times and also I have seen it most pronounced when my alternator was going out. I have replaced the alternator at least three times over the years.
