newgen85brat
Okay, I pulled my motor and forgot to disconnect the resistor that goes from the positive side of the coil to the ground on the engine. The unit ripped the wire off flush and cannot be fixed. It has the following markings 0169-17 150-05. What is this for? Will it still run? Where can I get it? Thanks. Gloyale
Condenser. Acts as a buffer for the voltage backup on the primary windings, until the ditsy trips the jump to the secondary(spark discharge) You will need one. Can be for almost anything. Just needs to be a condensor.

You do need one, but it should be one that is matched to your coil. Otherwise, excessive points burning will occur due to flyback high-voltage from the primary windings trying to discharge across the gap as the points open. It does not need to be a exact match, but it should be. Edited March 9, 2013 by NorthWet

Gloyale
My bad too. I was thinking points. That piece in your brat is RF suppression.
mikaleda
That's what I thought, the link I posted is about the rf suppressor on a 86 brat. It is not necessary it just keeps the electircal noise out of your radio.
