Dazed Dreamer
I am working on a friends 1992 Subaru legacy and she was given a 1.8 motor from an impreza because her engine was blow, my question is can I just swap the engine harness and have everything be ok? will it run? will it run bad? will it pass Colorado State Emission Laws? Subruise
you need to use the search function. whether or not, and how well, depend on what years the two motors are from. if they are from the same gen, itll be plug and play. if not....well back to searching
987687
Put the 2.2L intake on the 1.8L engine and swap the knock sensor onto the 1.8L engine. Then it will directly bolt in.
idosubaru
what he said, it's very easy. no wiring swap. remove the entire intake manifold with wiring off the EJ18. install the EJ22 intake manifold (with new gaskets) onto the EJ18 engine - installing the knock sensor while you're at it. done. I'm assuming they both have EGR, i think EJ18's always do so you should be fine... good time to just get a new knock sensor off ebay for $20, they fail fairly often. i'd also be installing a new timing belt kit - $80 off ebay for all new belt, tensioner, pulleys. Gloyale
You will need to plug the egr port in the EJ18. Drivers side head in the back. Other than that its drop in.
