soobie_newbie67
I searched but only found talk on it, and no real link or what not to a write up on how to do it. We got the tail end of the trans off, but dont know what to do from there. I was expecting to find a clutch pack in the end. woops. forgot to add. 1996 Legacy Outback Edited March 25, 2013 by soobie_newbie67
CNY_Dave
If there was no clutch pack, what was there? This is an automatic? was there a rear driveshaft?
soobie_newbie67
yeah. the rear output shaft is there, a gear, and a cylinder and a bearing on the shaft. and yes. its an auto Edited March 25, 2013 by soobie_newbie67
CNY_Dave
If the rear output shaft stayed with the trans, just pull it off and you'll see the clutchpack, it stays with the output shaft.

I tried prying on it a little and when it didn't come right off I freaked out a little. oh. and there is this little spring on a shaft at the bottom that sprung off. how does that go back on? CNY_Dave
There are pics on the web of the AWD section, I'm not familiar with the '96. My '03 has a spring that holds back the parking pawl.
