bsc09
Hey guys, my 1993 loyale has been acting a little weird the past few days. My temp gauge would spike all the way past the red when I would start the car up first thing in the morning and would stay there even after the car would warm up, after a while it will go down slightly for just a brief second and spike again. Im wondering if it could be the cooling fan switch because I do have a second radiator and it doesn't seem to be turning on or is it just a bad gauge cluster? mikaleda
More than likely the wire going to your sending unit is grounding out somewhere.
Cougar
This may mean there is a ground problem to the engine area. A simple thing you could do is add a temporary ground between the engine and the negative battery post. If the gauge goes back to a normal reading then you have a bad ground somewhere. Cleaning the ground connections may help.
nipper
Check the grounds. Also if it is first thing in the morning, check the alt output at the same time. It can be a current issue when cold.
