Brettm57
This is first time I've been on this site in quite a few years, I like the new look! I just picked up an '05 Impreza RS with the 2.5 engine. It seems to be leaking oil around the valve covers/heads, and I'm thinking about pulling the engine out and re-sealing them. I'm assuming that it would be easier to pull the engine out rather than try to do it in the car? Can you give me some advice on what I'm getting into? Thanks! lmdew
Valve covers can be done in the car. If you have leaks at the Head Gaskets, most recommend pulling the engine as it's much easier to work on once it's out. Easy to pull. You can do the HG in the car, and if you unbolt the motor mounts and pitch stopper you can raise the engine about 3" to give you better access.
