Picking a tire size after strut swap?

I finally got my 96 legacy. so excited. I ordered a set of new KYB
GR2 outback struts for front and rear but I am still trying to find out
what the ideal tire size is with the 2" lift the strut swap gives. I
either want 215/60/15 or 225/60/15 but not sure if the 225s will mess
with the cvs or not. Any input would be great. Thanks guys.

I don't think the tires will affect the c.v.'s you just don't want them rubbing on the spring perch

the stock tire size for that year and those struts is 205/70/15.

can you go larger? yes, of course.

but i do not know how much larger with out rubbing.

 

 

but FYI: your speedo will not read correctly.

you will be driving faster than your speedo indicates.

thanks for the info really appreciate it. Ya i heard about changing springs and top hats or getting wheel spacers. Not sure if I wannna go there yet,

maybe spacers though if I can find a set for a decent price. Thanks again.

205/75/15 will clear no problem, and there are some decent options in that size as well

Okay 86bratman are you positive that 205/75/15 will work with no problems. I am going to buy new tires this weeked. I did the strut swap a couple days ago and im

debating either the 205/70/15 or 205/75/15. I just dont want to get a tire thats to big and end up messing it up by it rubbin on the spring seat.

I looks like theres enough room height wise for either tire.

The 205/70/15 is 26.3" tall and the 205/75/15 is 27.1" tall, people have ran 215/75/15s which measure out at 27.7" with outback struts with no rubbing issues.  I have the 205/75/15 general grabber at2s on order for mine.  Currently running some goodyear 205/70/15 with plenty of room to grow a few sizes, only reason I'm running them is because they were on the outback wheels when I bought them.

Also, you could research a little more. There is a ton of info at the top of the offroad forum. And a ton of links inside of those.

This is by far the MOST asked question by newbs because they can't seem to search.

Do YOUR homework, because , YOUR situation is not that of another. No matter what folks have done on their own vehicles. It will def. help in the long run.

i do use search and I have used google and everything else and most every where I go I dont get answers or I get a bunch of different and conflicting answers so you can take your newb

Oh, and here is some knowledge for ya.EVERY tire manufactures sizes may read the same , but measure out differently.
