acidgypc25
I finally got my 96 legacy. so excited. I ordered a set of new KYBGR2 outback struts for front and rear but I am still trying to find outwhat the ideal tire size is with the 2" lift the strut swap gives. Ieither want 215/60/15 or 225/60/15 but not sure if the 225s will messwith the cvs or not. Any input would be great. Thanks guys.
mikaleda
I don't think the tires will affect the c.v.'s you just don't want them rubbing on the spring perch
johnceggleston
the stock tire size for that year and those struts is 205/70/15. can you go larger? yes, of course. but i do not know how much larger with out rubbing. but FYI: your speedo will not read correctly. you will be driving faster than your speedo indicates. acidgypc25
thanks for the info really appreciate it. Ya i heard about changing springs and top hats or getting wheel spacers. Not sure if I wannna go there yet, maybe spacers though if I can find a set for a decent price. Thanks again.
86BRATMAN
205/75/15 will clear no problem, and there are some decent options in that size as well
acidgypc25
Okay 86bratman are you positive that 205/75/15 will work with no problems. I am going to buy new tires this weeked. I did the strut swap a couple days ago and im debating either the 205/70/15 or 205/75/15. I just dont want to get a tire thats to big and end up messing it up by it rubbin on the spring seat. I looks like theres enough room height wise for either tire.
86BRATMAN
The 205/70/15 is 26.3" tall and the 205/75/15 is 27.1" tall, people have ran 215/75/15s which measure out at 27.7" with outback struts with no rubbing issues. I have the 205/75/15 general grabber at2s on order for mine. Currently running some goodyear 205/70/15 with plenty of room to grow a few sizes, only reason I'm running them is because they were on the outback wheels when I bought them. monstaru
Awsome thanks man I really appreciate the feedback. Also, you could research a little more. There is a ton of info at the top of the offroad forum. And a ton of links inside of those. This is by far the MOST asked question by newbs because they can't seem to search. Do YOUR homework, because , YOUR situation is not that of another. No matter what folks have done on their own vehicles. It will def. help in the long run.

mikaleda
seriously codswalloping, wow you need to just go walk into on coming traffic and do the world a favor. Dude, that kind of attitude is not going to get you far in life. Monstaru knows what he's talking about and he told you where to look and a search of THIS site would have shown you all you would need to know. Seriously though, you should really calm down and think before you post, no offense and any bashing of my post will not be responded to by me. Your post is a good way to get your thread deleted.
