sinbin
Hello! My 85 brat had an engine swap done for the EJ-22. The engine I got though ended up being bad. I moved to Austin, TX from Portland, OR. It's a lot harder here to find these motors in central Texas. I was thinking of buying one online and having it shipped here where a local mechanic will do the work. I'm no mechanic myself. Can you guys recommend a site where I can order a good, rebuilt engine? Thanks!

sinbin
Thanks! I checked them out and they're out of my budget for this. Really wish I could. They look really great.
presslab
Being that your on a budget, how about a JDM motor? There are a lot more JDM EJ25s out there though. I've been quite happy with my JDM motors, they don't leak or burn anything.
sinbin
Thanks. I called and they don't have any EJ22s right now, but said to check back in a couple of weeks. Their prices are more in my budget.
idosubaru
www.car-parts.com find an EJ22 there and buy it. serach by zipcode, search all possible combinations of imp, legacy, years, etc. buying a new or rebuilt EJ22 is a waste of time. if they've never been overheated or run out of oil they run forever, get a known good, low mileage unit and call it good. there's probably a story why your Ej22 ended up being bad....with a little legwork it's easy to get a known good engine and then things are tanks. $150 - $400 all day long in excellent condition. lmdew
Yes, go used. I've bought several 2.2 off of www.car-part.com and they were great. Under $600 including shipping to CO.
