Is this where I would ask to find a specialist do make a wiring harness and find a place to send my copmuter to be reprogramed?

Hello Everyone,

I’m looking for a company that specializes in Subaru; who can make a wiring harness for me and set up my computer to fit my needs.

I’ve been doing searches on Yahoo with not much luck.
Some of the ones I thought might be helpful are overseas and not in the USA.
It is not always what you know but who you know and sadly I do not know anyone who does this.
 
I’m working with 2002 up to 2008 EZ and need a complete wiring harness made.
Most of the stock wiring I think can be used but I need a lot of stuff done.
It has to be much longer than stock because I’m doing a mid-engine in a longer vehicle

I know there are companies doing this stuff for a LS Chevy and Ford, but I’m not sure where to go for Subaru.

Any help would be appreciated.

What I will need is a complete harness made to my specs.

 

Also to crack open the computer and see if there is any wiggle room - to make some changes that will fit our needs/concerns.  Again not for racing or all out HP.  Good good low end from  a stop and hopefully better mileage.

 

I need to find out for sure that the drive-by-wire for the throttle can be extended without any problems with the computer or the throttle?

I've done some more searching. I can only find stuff for GM, Jeep and Ford - but so far nothing really good for Subaru. Unless you are looking for a wiring harness for Subaru radios. ggg

 

I like to find a company that does complete custom wiring harnesses for Subaru conversions....

 

Do you know of any out there?

The experts here have spoken and given you 2 options of the best wire guys around...I hope you found your answer. Just in case you didnt, closest thing I can point you to...the VW guys on the samba.com...my cousin got some help from a couple of guys overe there when he was doing an EG33 conversion into his Vanagon Syncro. From your signature, I sense that you may have a van in the works, possibly poweerd by a Subaru engine? Good luck with your project and keep us posted.

Anyone on here would be the hobbyist that had the ambition and skills to do the work. Anyone doing it here as a service volunteers such. The hobbyist with experience rather than a shop doing this for aftermarket. 

 

Aside fro forum members that may help you out, I do know that Kennedy Engineering does packages for subaru engine installs in volkswagens.

The only game changer here is that it is a ultralight motorhome hence the extension.  As for the drive by wire most of the guys that mess with harnesses also play with some electronics including Pat aka  Northwet.  If the signal isn't strong enough someone can make a repeater or a signal amplifier to get it do what is necessary.  I wish I was more of a techie but alas I am just a simple truck driver that dabbles if you can call it that.

It takes me allmost 4-8 hours to cutdown and biuld a harness just a simple ej one I have a cut down ez3.0 harness took many many hours to get right but worked good. And if you do not have a exstensive knowlege of subaru wire harness coulors and sensers this is very difacult job

Thanks to everyone for your input and help.

 

 

I've not been able to be online much lately.

I went away July 5th and got back July 21 towing this Ultravan #520 back home to add to our Ultravan collection.

Lately I've been getting our rental property ready and there is no internet there.

And UV520 has a small, tiny, oh Okay - "Big" 455 FWD Toronado power plant under the bed.

Now Ultravan #231 below is the vehicle that I plan to do the Subaru 3.0 conversion in.

UV231 was delivered May 9th 2013 and I hope to start work on it next year.

To make the conversion easier and to help ensure it works; I will be using everything needed from a donor Subaru.

I’ll be using the dash, heater controls and even the steering column too.

With the power plant being in the back I'll need to use a bulkhead plug near the power plant, like they used at the firewall on the Subaru and then have a new wiring harness made to run to the dash.

 


BTW - I'll have a build thread when I get started on this porject.

I thought I share the following info.

 

I just went to Numbchux's site and he posted the following quote:

I'll still PM him to see if he may help.

 

And I'll ask everyone else who have posted; is there anyone willing to step up and help with this project after seeing just what I'm working on - in the picture above? 

If so let me know and give me an idea of what you would want? 

 

Short term - IF the project moves quickly = I'll need a harness by summer 2014

However, If things move like most projects - GGG = I'll not need a harness until spring 2015 or later.

 

Keep in mind I will be using as much as I can from the donor Subaru to install into the Ultravan.

Everything from the heating/AC, all the dash controls, the steering column with steering wheel and it's switches as if Subaru had made this motor home.

Ls1 5.7 v8 or 5.0 v8 efi or 6.0 efi v8 unless you are very concered about weight

 Ultravan offered 47 coaches with a Chevy small block, Corvette Diff and rear disc brakes.

 

I want to do something different. I'll be offering it for sale at any stage and I like to do a Subaru build thread to go along with the project too.
