wentz912
What do I need as far as RHD vs LHD specific to 5 speed swap a RHD 96 Legacy? My meager amount of searching so far says I can use the following from a LHD car: Transmission Shifter and linkage Starter Clutch ECU to maintain ABS Basically the only thing I'm really concerned with is the pedal set and all its appropriate linkage. Do I need to find a JDM/RHD set or are they same same with LHD? I kinda suck at searching, maybe someom
Legacy777
Yes, I believe the pedal box will likely be different. Are you planning to use a cable clutch or hydraulic clutch?
86BRATMAN
no matter which tranny type I'd be looking on some aussie or euro forums/ ebay for parts
wentz912
Beliefs don't tell me anything, I need to hear from someone that KNOWS. I am just going to use a transmission from a same year car, so it will still be cable clutch so no concerns with mounting a master or slave cylinder. Really just need to know about the pedal box. Found a guy a few hours from me That has a JDM Legacy GTB that's a five speed, waiting to hear back from him with pictures of his pedal box. wentz912
So all right hand drive, manual transmission legacy pedal boxes use a hydraulic clutch actuator versus a cable system?
86BRATMAN
no, but all turbo and ej25 cars of this era will be hydro, what you're looking for will have to come from an ej22 car, or you'll have to convert to a hydro clutch system. The latter is probably the more difficult as I don't think a cable trans has the mount point for the slave cylinder however, if you go with the gt-b pedal box, and source a usdm ej25 trans you'll have a 4.11 front diff to match the auto rear diff, 95-99 ej22 manuals are 3.90 ratio and the auto is 4.
