applegump
With the hot months coming and having arrived on certain days, I've realised that my AC doesn't work. I had the system refilled last fall (so I doubt it needs refrigerant) so it hasn't been warm enough to check if it works properly. Anyway, there is no cool air coming from the vents, even after 5 minutes of operation. I've also noticed that when I turn the AC on, there is no engine rpm change, is this normal? Shouldn't the engine experience a short fall in rpm due to the extra load? Any suggestions where I should start to look? Thanks.
Markus
I also have a 90 LS AWD. My Air did not blow cold last year and I need to fill it (I assume) due to no cold air. When you filled it what was used? I'll have to check and see if my RPMs change when I turn my AC on.
Tiny Clark
Make sure your compressor clutch is engaging when you turn the A/C switch on. If it isn't engaging, there could be several reasons for it. USUALLY, if it's low on freon, it will momentarily engage, then shut off.
applegump
I assume they used the appropriated coolant. How do I make sure the compressor clutch is engaging?
Markus
I was wondering what freon type was used. Older Subarus probably used the R12 and you can't get that anymore. I was wondering if it was converted to the R132....I think that is the number.
