Idle Adjustment on 84 Subaru Gl

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm wondering where the idle adjustment screw is located on an 84 GL hatchback.

Right now it's idling very low (500ish) I've been reading quite a bit and it seems it might be as easy as adjusting a certain screw. Any help would be appreciated! I'm teaching myself how to work on cars with this 600$ beauty.

This is off my '86 Brat, and I'm not sure if the carbs were exactly the same, but here's what the screw sorta looks like. It's located under the air filter element (you'll probably have to take it off to access it).

Yay for learning. I'm doing the same with my brat, learning little by little.

EDIT: at least according to the "how to keep your subaru alive" book I have, '82 - '88 Hitachi carbs have the screw located in the same place, so the pic I posted should be accurate.
