pearlm30
I need a set of brake rotors and pads. Where can I find some good deals especially during labor day weekend? Thanks
Fairtax4me
Advanceautoparts.com Find you stuff in stock at the local store. Order online and use a coupon code from Retailmenot.com. Pickup in store and get it all the same day. Sometimes you can split it into two orders and you can use the code twice and save more money. 1 Lucky Texan
do not buy 'economy' pads, they are crap.
idosubaru
what he said - i hardly use anything else any more as the codes are usually excellent. minimum 20% off, i think P20 is still a valid 20% off code. TRT41 is a 40% off code i recently used. turn rotors instead of replace? rockauto sometimes has really cheap brake pads. i do get pads from them sometimes. like LTexan just said, i avoid cheap pads. i wouldn't want the rockauto $6 pads. the cheap ones at advance auto parts like wearever silvers work fine they just last 10,000 miles sometimes. davebugs
I've had success with Wagner Thermo-quiets I believe they are called on Subaru's. Rotors are all crap IMO - their standards aren't very high - they are really scrap metal. I always do pads n rotors at the same time.
1 Lucky Texan
coupla good points up there guys - If they can be turned by a good shop to within spec, original Subaru rotors should be kept. Personally, if i had to get new rotors, I'd pay a little extra for Centric Premium and cross my fingers. I dunno how much new Subaru rotors would cost. davebugs
MY VW front rotors n pads last 100k. Rears 60k(stupid litlte pads). But for all else anymore most rotors ar eCHinese junk no matter what name is on them. So I buy the best pads and replace with rotors - often the cheap ones. IIR on SUbaru's the ex GF would get 50-60k out of the Wagner thermo quiets and cheap(Quality Brand Chinese) rotors on her Impreza's (95 then 02?) Fairtax4me
Aftermarket rotors seem to wear at much faster rate than factory rotors. I generally have to replace them when the pads wear out because they end up too thin to have turned. There are some decent quality aftermarket replacements out there, but you're generally much better off with new rotors from a dealer. I'd much rather turn dealer rotors (even if it puts them near minimum spec) than buy aftermarket and have to replace them.
Magauto
http://www.subieparts.com This is where I go, normally I find some of the better deals. They cycle on and off parts on special and every now and then I can get them to put up a few things I need on clearance! If you need help let me know I will ask them to help you out!
