subaru4Life2988
Recently I swapped my 2.2 impreza to a 2.5 dohc... Runs great except it acts like its bouncing off the limiter at 4500rpm, anyone else had this problem?
nickb21
Any codes in the ECU? Sounds like it's in a limp/fail-safe mode, I've only experienced this when I had a VSS issue. Welcome aboard, I'm sure someone else will chime in shortly!
subaru4Life2988
I appreciate thank you. Pretty sure it is in limp mode, didn't have an o2 until today was hoping that would cure it. I have access to a scanner Monday, could go to advance but that's usually a pain
subaru4Life2988
Had codes ran today and and vss came up, thanks for the tip. I will update when I get one and change it.
nickb21
Does the speedo work? Might wanna just double check the wires/harness make sure nothing is cut.
lmdew
I always go the other way 2.5 to 2.2. Never had a problem. Make sure all of you connections are good if you have not done that already. I'd you have a problem before the swap? Could be a cam or crank sensor is cutting out a higher RPM. Does it make a difference if you are under load or just in neutral? subaru4Life2988
Speedo did not work before swap, forgot to mention that I swapped to forester tranny/diff and hydro clutch setup. I'm hoping its not a swap issue, tranny probly had bad vss when I put it in. Not cut wires or anything, all connects good, ran fine before the swap. Acts up in neutral and under load, goin to change vss tomorrow
Fairtax4me
Does the speedometer work now? What is the exact code? There is more than one VSS, and replacing the one on the trans when it clearly works (because the speedometer works) will not fix the problem. subaru4Life2988
Speedo still doesn't work, it's a problem with the gauge. Went to advance to get my codes ran but the fella who scanned my codes wasn't very helpful and also wouldn't stop talking about how sweet his ranger and alero were..... Please Going to run codes today at the shop today and figure out exact code
