afewsubarus
Does anyone know what function the vent valve solenoid on the Hitachi carburetor performs. I located the source of a recent electrical malfunction and it was a burned-out wire at the base of the solenoid. Is this part available at most auto parts stores such as NAPA or Orielly's. Gloyale
Not available at stores. Part of the carb itself. it will run without it....just will use alot of gas cause the pressure builds in the bowl, and then excess fuel is sucked in the carb. afewsubarus
When I took it for a drive w/out it seemed like the accelerator pedal was stuck (3000-4000rpm) could this have been caused by the lack of the solenoid?
djellum
bowl vents are all about keeping pressures even. when I gutted my hitachi I never got the car to run right until I restricted it the proper amount. I used a long section of small hose crammed onto the bowl vent outlet. I tried open and plugged and it never ran right. the pressure in the bowl can force fuel into the carb, or having a vacuum there can starve it, so you need to relieve just enough pressure.
