cmhanley7
recently my front U-joint went out on my car ended up cracking the transfer case, long story short i replaced all the parts had the car running fine, until i went to star it the next morning and couldn't get it to fire up. it cranks fine and sounds like normal just won't get the firing kick. anyone have any suggestions on what i can do to get it running again? i also tested the fuel pump but it seems to be working fine. thanks, Connor
AdventureSubaru
Possibly a loose wiring connection if you unhooked the wiring from the trans/starter etc. Double check everything that was disconnected during the repair. If not, it's unrelated to your repairs. If fuel is okay, check for spark. Could be fouled plugs, bad plug wires, ignition coil etc.
johnceggleston
what exactly did you do to the car when you worked on the trans?
cmhanley7
i checked all the wiring and was able to get the car started, now it runs fine for about 5 seconds and then dies. i gave it constant gas the second time i started it which made it seem to run fine but as soon as i let off the accelerator, its bogs down and dies. i was also told this could be from a fuel pressure regulator or sensor going bad but still am not sure how to check or find these items. cmhanley7
all i did was take out the sub framing and drop the tranny a few inches in order to but my new drive shaft, linkage and transfer case cover on. it's the 2.2 engine i believe i forgot to mention that earlier. johnceggleston
it sounds like a large vac leak. look for the large hose, about the size of your thumb, that runs from the intake manifold, passenger side, to the bottom, under side of the black plastic intake plenum. it mounts on the bottom and is very hard to see.
