Fran
Hi to all. First time poster, long time (36 years) Subaru owner. 2006 Outback with 103,000 miles. I have a small gas leak that I traced to the pipes going into the top of the rear of the tank. I had to remove the plastic shroud from underside the car to find the source. Can the top of the tank be accessed from inside by removing the rear seat cushions? If so, how is this done? If not, does this mean the tank has to be dropped? Procedure? Thanks. Fran G. Gloyale
Not positive on 06 model but others you can lift the carpet in the trunk, and there are 2 cover plates that can be removed to access the fuel pump, and fuel level sender and the ends of the hoses. Fran
Thanks Gloyale. Pulled the rear seat and took off the cover to the fuel pump. Leaking gas between the brace that holds the fuel pump and the tank. Took apart and cleaned seal and surfaces and retightened. Still some leaking so will have to try to replace the seal.
