brianb41
Have above vehicle, got real sluggish, no power, replaced plugs, wires, fuel & air filter, checked compression, cleaned MAF sensor, no improvement, jacked up car, put infrared gun on cat at 2750 rpm, pegged @ 900 deg. instantly, we replaced cat, still runs like crap, checked coolant temp. sensor, appears fine, what is ohm reading supposed to be on TPS at closed throttle, currently reads 8.25 closed to 1.25 at WOT, what should I be seeing? MilesFox
maybe the timing belt jumped? if so it can be causef by a weak tensioner, a seizing idler, or the bearing coming loose in one of the idlers. Pull the covers and have a look, run thru the timing belt procedure. Are you sure it's not overheating?

johnceggleston
timing is pretty easy to check. my first guess was the knock sensor. mine ran like crap, no power, even before it threw a code for the knock sensor. does it act the same cold (open loop) as it does hot (closed loop)? if no, the o2 sensor could be sluggish. if yes, then probably not the o2. brianb41
Dear gurus, there is an intermittent knocking coming from behind the timing cover, has yet to throw a code, is quite difficult to start when cold, barely runs cold, is little better when warm, gauge doesn't rise past halfway mark though, does this clarify anything? johnceggleston
it is beginning to sound like it is a timing / timing belt issue. hoe long since the last timing belt change? it would not surprise me to learn that one of your idlers is going bad. that's the bad news. the good news is that when it fails, it will not hurt your engine. get a timing belt kit, belt, 3 idlers, & water pump, from ''theimportexperts'' on ebay. it will cost about $135 shipped. of course you should check the timing first to be sure. MilesFox
Since you mentioned knock sensor, the knocking sound could be triggering it causing it to pull timing and further compound the condition.
