JoshXT6
hey whats up guys I picked up a 1988 xt6 a few months ago. It been stored 20 years in a garage with 189000KM on it (canadian xt6 with ajustiable hight) black and 5spd but... ok I've done a lot of looking around and seen the issues with this. I've got fuel, air but no spark. i've gone down to hf8311 (igniter) on the coil I have + on both sides when the car is on and - when its off WTF I cant find this hf8311 anywhere anyone know where I can find one or a good replacement part. john in KY
Remove distributor cap and verify the rotor turns when engine cranks. Also that igniter thing needs grounded. It is grounded thru the coil bracket so make sure there is a good body contact. Forgot to mention always a good idea to check fuses and the fusible links. Forgot to mention always a good idea to check fuses and the fusible links. it turns and it is grounded. all the links are fine and no codes from the cpu. also the old gas has been drained and filled with a new tank of gas. ruparts
hi, i'm pretty sure that part on the coil bracket is the same on all the late 80's subarus, up through the 91 loyales, so just try another one, you have to swap the whole coil bracket , the igniter is made to it. ivans imports
Same as loyale check the ground were coil bolts down bracket MUST be grounded to get coil/ efi to work add a extra ground wire from coil braket to - battery terminal also the xt6 uses a computer in trunk and is very prone to voltage drop as the wire harness is so long check + side fuse box and conections and voltage at rear of car is same at front of car
idosubaru
sounds like you got it narrowed down to the igniter. post in the parts wanted forum here or subaruxt.com ryan (rpholz) has one available here: http://www.subaruxt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=13566 distributor is a likely culprit too, i've seen a couple cause no spark conditions in vehicles that sat for along time. again - find a used one. i've got igniters and distributors for XT6's too.
